JLTV Vehicle Conversion for VR
SAIC | Maya, Substance Painter, Unreal Engine
Converted a high-density engineering CAD model of a Joint Light Tactical Vehicle (JLTV) into an optimized real-time asset for VR applications. Starting from CAD data containing millions of polygons, the vehicle was rebuilt and optimized for real-time performance while preserving the visual fidelity and proportions of the original engineering design.
Responsibilities included retopology, low-poly asset creation, UV layout, normal map baking from CAD source geometry, texture development, and material creation. Additional modular vehicle attachments were developed to support visualization of specialized sensor systems, including multi-camera and acoustic detection platforms.
This project demonstrates the process of transforming engineering-grade source data into production-ready real-time content suitable for immersive VR environments.
